Hearing Assessments

What to Expect at Your Hearing Assessment

At Hear Now Clinic, we offer comprehensive hearing assessments carried out by HCPC-registered audiologists in a comfortable, quiet environment. Whether you're booking your first test or have concerns about gradual hearing changes, we're here to help.

If you're struggling to follow conversations, turning up the TV more than others, or simply curious about your hearing health — a professional hearing test can offer clarity and peace of mind.

If you are one of the many patients on a waiting list for the NHS we would be more than happy to provide a hearing test and alternative hearing aid arrangements where needed.

Your appointment lasts around 45–60 minutes and includes:

  • 👂 Initial consultation – We’ll discuss your symptoms, lifestyle, and hearing history

  • 🕵️‍♂️ Otoscopy – We examine your ear canals to check for wax or signs of infection

  • 🎧 Pure tone audiometry – You’ll wear headphones and respond to tones at various pitches and volumes

  • 🗣️ Speech-in-noise test (if relevant) – We assess how well you hear speech with background sounds

  • 📊 Results explained – You’ll get an audiogram (your hearing profile) explained in plain English

  • 🧭 Next steps – We’ll advise on whether hearing aids, ear wax removal, further tests or no action is needed

We prioritise clarity, comfort, and a no-pressure environment — the focus is on helping you make informed decisions.

Do I Need a Hearing Test?

You may benefit from a hearing assessment if you:

  • Have difficulty hearing conversations, especially in groups or noisy places

  • Frequently ask others to repeat themselves

  • Experience ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)

  • Feel mentally fatigued after listening

  • Have family or friends who’ve noticed changes

  • Turn the TV or radio volume higher than others prefer

  • Work in noisy environments or are over the age of 50

Even if your symptoms are mild, early detection can make a significant difference.
